How to choose the right car insurance in the Netherlands

The first step is understanding the three main coverage types. WA insurance is the legal minimum and only covers damage you cause to others. Your choice usually depends on the age and value of your vehicle. Older cars are often insured with WA because the lower premium matches the lower value of the car. Vehicles with a reasonable market value often fit well with WA+. Newer, financed or more expensive cars are frequently better suited to All Risk coverage.

You should also think about your personal situation. How often do you drive? Do you park your car on the street? Would you be able to pay for repairs yourself if your own car is damaged? These questions help determine how much risk you want to carry.
